The City of East Palo Alto is seeking an outgoing, collaborative, responsible Part-Time Community Service Officer. The Community Service Officer performs a variety of routine to complex field and administrative activities in support of police services and programs for the City’s Police Department. The position provides comprehensive non-sworn staff support to Police Department supervisory and management personnel on a wide variety of law enforcement programs, projects, and services; responds to public requests; and performs related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education: Equivalent to graduation from the twelfth (12th) grade. Equivalent to an associate degree in criminal justice or a closely related field is desired.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience performing administrative support duties related to the functions of law enforcement. Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
License and Certifications:
BENEFITS: California paid sick leave is available after thirty (30) days of employment at the rate of one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked.

The Police Department's goals are to focus on crime suppression and analysis, problem-solving, building community relationships, and creating effective crime prevention strategies. The philosophy is that the more the department is informed and openly available about public safety issues, the better we can work together toward safer, more secure, and healthier neighborhoods.
