Two Dot Consulting (2DOT), an affiliate of Montrose Environmental Group, is an interdisciplinary Environmental and Engineering firm based in downtown Arvada, Colorado. We have offices throughout CO + WY and over 25 scientists, biologists, and engineers with a combined 230 years of experience. We focus on equal pay, company culture, environmental engineering, natural resource management, environmental permitting + compliance, remediation, reclamation, soil, water, and technology to serve our clients.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Windsor, CO office is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist with for soil sampling to support a upstream oil and gas projects in the northeastern front range of Colorado and potentially other areas (UT, WY, NM, & TX).

* The successful applicant will be able to collect soil samples from many oil and gas locations. This key responsibility will require the utilization of the following pieces of field equipment (but not limited to):

* Operation of a hand auger to collect soil samples at depths of up to 6 feet.

* Operation of a handheld photoionization detector (PID) for the screening of soil samples for volatile organic hydrocarbons (VOCs).

* Operation of a Trimble GPS device to collect spatial GIS data needed for sample locations.

* Collect detailed field notes of daily field sample collection activities.

* Provide daily reports that include field notes and photographs of sampling locations.

* Care for and maintenance of field equipment.

* Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the client.

* Travel in a company field vehicle to oil and gas locations in northeastern CO.

* Perform other duties as requested.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

* This position has a driving requirement.

* Within the past 5 years, none of the following driving convictions:

* Driving 25 MPH or more ABOVE the posted speed limit

* Driving on the wrong side of the road

* Driving While Impaired

* Driving with a suspended or revoked license

* DUI - Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

* Eluding or attempting to elude a police officer

* Leaving the scene of an accident - hit and run

* Open Container/Chemical Test Failure/Chemical Test Refusal/Possession of a controlled substance

* Racing

* Reckless Driving

* Refusal to submit a blood, urine or breath test

* No more than two (2) of the following convictions within two years and one (1) at-fault accident:

* Careless driving

* Defective equipment

* Expired temporary or permanent plate

* Safety belt violation

* Speeding or any moving violation

* Requires a valid driver's license and successful clearance of a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug test.

* Safety conscious and continually assess ways to mitigate hazards.

* Ability to use hand auger to sample soil to six-foot depth.

* Ability to carry 40 pounds.

* Ability to walk up to three miles per day (typical days require less than one mile of walking).

* Physical ability to perform outdoor field work in remote settings year-round.

* Ability to safely drive in adverse conditions (e.g., 4x4 roads, snow, mud, dirt roads).

* Effective communication skills with teams and managers.

* Attention to detail.

* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

* Ability to stay positive and effective during long and physically challenging days in the field.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (NOT REQUIRED)

* Experience with soil sample collection, preservation, and documentation.

* Experience with Colorado's 811 locates and ground disturbance requirements.

* Experience working in field conditions.

* Experience collecting field notes on digital survey platforms (Survey123, Field Maps).

* Experience driving in remote locations using 4x4 vehicles.

EDUCATION

* Bachelor's degree in environmental science or another related field (desired, but not required).
