Kinsa is recruiting for a: Category Manager / Fresh Food / C-Stores Location: Fremont, CA (Onsite w/ travel) Our client is a Convenience Store chain based in Fremont, CA. The Fresh Food Category Manager is responsible for managing an assigned group of products and/or services. The role involves vendor management, pricing, merchandising, and marketing with the goal of optimizing sales and meeting revenue and gross profit budgets. This role is ideal for someone that loves food and has a culinary training . Successful candidates MUST HAVE Category Management experience in the fresh food space, preferable for C-Stores. Compensation/Benefits: $90,000 - $120,000 base salary 10% bonus Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD 401k with company match Travel expenses and mileage reimbursement Vacation and Holiday pay Relocation assistance Key Responsibilities and Goals: Research and analyze internal and external data, and market and consumer insights. Source new and innovative products, and design exit strategies for unsuccessful products. Plan and implement long-term development strategies for product categories, and ensure product availability. Maintain schematics for each assigned category to maximize sales and profit. Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts. Visit sites regularly to get feedback from Operations Team. Conduct competitive checks to ensure market alignment. Competencies Needed for Success: Minimum of 3-5 years of Category Management experience in Fresh Food, preferably in the C-store space. In-depth Excel knowledge - experience analyzing large data sets and reacting accordingly. Ability to communicate and make presentations in an effective and persuasive manner at all levels. Ability to manage time effectively and be focused on setting and executing objectives and priorities. Attention to detail - commitment to excellence and high standards. Problem solving skills - versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within changing priorities. Willing to be a flexible and innovative team player with a roll-up-the-sleeves and hands on approach.
