Organizational Background
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) was founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, and has grown from a three-day festival of two plays to a nationally renowned theatre arts organization that presents a rotating repertory season of up to 10 plays and musicals, including illuminating interpretations of Shakespeare, other enduring classics, and new works. OSF productions have been presented on Broadway, internationally, and at regional, community, and high school theatres across the country. OSF received the 1983 Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre and is one of the largest nonprofit theatres in the nation with three stages, including an outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Position Overview :

2. Responsible for running playback, mixing small reinforcement shows, and/or performing duties as a
wireless microphone technician for one to three shows as part of a rotating repertory season in three
theatres, with careful attention to details and precise timeliness.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Models and supports the mission and values of OSF by:
a. Demonstrating inclusive behavior.
b. Maintaining a safe working environment.
c. Recognizing micro-aggressions and interrupting behaviors that hinder OSF’s diversity and
inclusion efforts.
2. Operates and programs sound computer/console during technical rehearsals and run of shows
3. Mixes small reinforcement shows and events
4. Works as wireless microphone technician backstage, working with the sound designer, costume designer,
and wardrobe crews in implementing and maintaining wireless microphones for technical rehearsals and run
of shows
5. While acting as wireless microphone technician, communicate efficiently with Stage Management,
Assistant Stage Manager, and Sound Engineer, in regards of the sound needs for rehearsals, tech, and run of
shows
6. Communicates with musicians regarding proper maintenance and placement of microphones or special
equipment utilized in the sound design of the show
7. Assist in setting up and maintenance of sound systems in three theatres
8. Maintains the integrity and performance quality through the run of the shows
Other Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Participates in special events by assisting with sound needs
2. Attends rehearsal and run throughs as needed
3. Understudies other Playback and Wireless Technician tracts as needed
4. Performs other duties as assigned
Supervision Received :
Production Manager, Sound Department Manager, Sound Supervisor, Sound Engineer
REQUIRED :
Work Experience : A minimum of three years of professional experience executing sound playback and
troubleshooting for live sound entertainment.
Qualifications/skills : Knowledge of wireless microphone rigging, basic Qlab programming, basic programming on
digital consoles. Ability to mix small reinforcement shows
Physical Ability : Must have good sense of hearing and the abilities of to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and
crawl.
Other Skills, Ability and/or Knowledge : The abilities to work within a team structure as well as independently and
to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating effectively with clients, patrons, coworkers and management are required
Special Hours Requirements : Night-time and weekend hours are regularly required. Standard work week is
Tuesday –Sunday. Schedule is available one week in advance of work. Overtime is required, especially during
technical rehearsals. The ability to work a variable schedule is required
PREFERRED :
Education : High School diploma is preferred
Work Experience : Wireless frequency coordination. Basic audio editing. Able to read technical CAD drawings.
