About Us

We are an Arizona-based startup dedicated to building software that automates bookkeeping and tax processes for small businesses. Our journey began with the goal of helping small businesses use their financial data to make timely decisions, survive loan due diligence, and work with acquirers/investors. However, we quickly realized that the underlying issue was that bookkeeping is challenging and often disliked by small business owners.

Since then, we've been working tirelessly to develop high-quality, real-time, and affordable accounting technology tailored for small businesses. Our clients include dentists, restaurant owners, insurance agents, realtors, and many other professionals from diverse backgrounds. Some have tried managing their books in QuickBooks Online (QBO) but couldn't keep up. Others paid too much for quarterly bookkeeping services from CPA firms. Some even switched from companies like Bench and Pilot in search of better service.

The Tax Onboarding Specialist position is ideal for someone looking to develop professionally in the FinTech space. The Tax Onboarding Specialist will be responsible for client onboarding, collecting necessary documents, client follow-up, internal workflow, and preparing and reviewing a variety of complex tax returns for individuals and businesses. This position requires knowledge of tax laws and regulations, excellent communication skills, strong Excel skills, and a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Our Ideal Candidate

- Has SMB tax preparation experience, working with a variety of small businesses to prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates.
- Possesses robust problem-solving skills, capable of handling complex workflows and projects efficiently.
- Engages effectively with high-value clients to optimize their account setups and enhance their overall experience with our services.
- Leads and supports a team in tax tasks, leveraging our technology solution and system to ensure consistency and accuracy in research, document storage, communication, and tax products.
- Is skilled in onboarding companies to a ready state for tax preparation, ensuring a seamless handoff to the Tax Operations team.
- Excels in communication, able to clearly convey and explain intricate tax and accounting data to clients as needed.
- Has 3+ years in tax preparation, with a preference for those with multi-client experience.
- Has expertise in reviewing financial statements and tax filings.
- Is eager to drive continuous improvement in our automated bookkeeping and tax systems and contribute to our business intelligence solutions.
- Is proficient with tax software such as ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar; experience in Sharefile is a plus.
- Possesses an active EA or CPA certification.
- Preferably has a Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related fields.
- Skills that are nice to have include QBO and Drake experience.

Examples of Projects You Could Own in This Role

- Bridge the gap between Bookkeeping, Tax, and Onboarding teams to ensure more seamless workflows.
- Make final changes to financials to send on to the Tax team. This involves applying your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze and rectify any tax and bookkeeping issues. This includes identifying discrepancies, devising a comprehensive action plan to address these issues, and either executing the plan yourself or overseeing its implementation to ensure accurate and efficient outcomes.
- Assist in training the Bookkeeping team on standard policy changes needed and implement the same for better tax financials.
- Design and implement comprehensive chart of account setups for new clients, ensuring seamless integration with Tax.
- Lead troubleshooting initiatives, enhancing functionality and user experience.
