- Job Title: Inpatient Coder - Level I Trauma and Teaching Facility*

- Job Summary:*
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Inpatient Coder to join our healthcare team at a Level I Trauma and Teaching Facility. This remote position requires proficiency in coding inpatient medical records using Epic and 3M360. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coding for various specialties commonly seen in trauma settings, such as emergency medicine, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, and critical care.
- Responsibilities:*
- Accurately assign codes to inpatient medical records following ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding guidelines.
- Utilize Epic and 3M360 software for efficient coding and documentation processes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to identify and resolve documentation gaps, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of medical records.
- Write clear and effective queries to physicians to obtain necessary information for accurate coding.
- Stay informed about the latest coding regulations, guidelines, and best practices relevant to trauma and teaching facilities.
- Participate in coding audits and quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of coding accuracy.
- Assist in developing and refining coding policies and procedures in line with industry standards and organizational objectives.
- Qualifications:*
- AHIMA Certification (CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) required
- A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience in a Level I trauma and teaching facility.
- Proficient in using Epic and 3M360 coding systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology specific to trauma and critical care specialties.
- Demonstrated experience in writing queries and collaborating effectively with clinical staff to enhance documentation accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fully remote environment.
