Directional Drilling Operators & Locators are responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities.

The duties include and are not limited to performing typical physical labor tasks required for Underground Construction.

• Proficiently operate or locate directional boring equipment and related machinery.
• Set up and maintain drilling equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Monitor running line and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy and safety.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on drilling equipment.
• Use USA marks, utility locating equipment and site plans to accurately identify the location of existing underground utilities.
• Mark and flag the paths of utilities, ensuring that they are clearly visible to all team members.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries during operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
• Conduct pre-operation safety checks and inspections of equipment.
• Communicate drilling production daily.
• Identify potential issues with utility locations and maintain several days of available work.
• Coordinate with other team members, including laborers and supervisors, to ensure effective teamwork.
• Maintain accurate records of drilling operations, utility locations, and equipment maintenance.
• Complete necessary documentation.
• Monitor measures to minimize environmental impact, such as controlling drilling fluid spills and disposing of waste responsibly.

Qualified candidates must possess the following special skills and or requirements to be considered for this position.
High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification or training in directional drilling and operations and utility locating.
• 3-5 years’ operating directional boring and or utility locating equipment.
• Strong knowledge of underground utility systems and construction techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret maps and blueprints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift heavy objects 50-60 lbs. on a regular basis, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record, CDL license preferred.
• Will require some out of area travel.

compensation: $26.00-$30.00 per hour. Paid weekly.
