JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision or direction, maintains close observation on individual resident exercise programs; and performs related work as required. Work involves regular contact with residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Interprets individual exercise programs written by supervising staff and assists residents in
following such programs.
Maintains close observation on participants exercising in the equipment room. Assures the safe and proper use of all exercise equipment. Maintains orderly function of the facility through enforcement of rules and procedures.
Provides information, assistance and direction for new participants with respect to fitness center programs.
Observes and recognizes physical problems demonstrated before and during exercising by resident participants (e.g. dizziness, light-headedness, general confusion and disorientation, unusual heart rates or rhythms, shortness of breath, injury on exercise equipment, etc.) and provides assistance. Reports special needs and/or problems to the Fitness Assistant II, Senior Fitness Assistant or the Fitness Coordinator.
Regularly observes and inspects exercise equipment for proper function, reporting all maintenance needs to supervising staff.
Regular attendance required. All duties performed on-site for the Community.
