EVENT MANAGER CONGREGATION TEMPLE ISRAEL
Reports to: Executive Director
Classification: Exempt
Pay Range: $45,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience
Available: Position open immediately, not available for remote work

SUMMARY: The Event Manager is responsible for ensuring all events and programs for Congregation Temple Israel are planned, organized, and executed to engage congregants in Temple life in a safe and secure environment.
SUPERVISES: Event Staff
Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of each position he/she supervises.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as point person for lifecycle families to coordinate event details and acts as staff member on duty during lifecycle events
Plans, executes, and staffs synagogue events and programs, including educational programs, fundraising events, community building events, and any other events or programs that the Congregation deems effective
Works with lay leaders and staff to create, plan, implement, and communicate programs to increase member engagement
Works with TI staff on TI internal events to coordinate event needs
Manages Event Planning documentation and works with team members to establish and communicate event and facility requirements
Schedules security officers for services, events, preschool and religious school
Coordinates Shabbat Sponsorships (Bimah Flowers, Pre-Onegs, Bimah Baskets) for services, lifecycle events, and High Holy Days, ensuring they are executed as selected by donor
Coordinates all facility rentals and ensures financial tracking of each event
Serves as contact person for outside caterers

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Strong communication skills on the phone and in person
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and be detail oriented
High school diploma is required and a bachelor's or associate's degree in event or hospitality management is preferred and/or equivalent experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products and ability to master database
Knowledge and understanding of Jewish culture, religious occasions, and other events that occur at Temple and the ability to coordinate food with those occasions or events
Ability to hire, train, and coordinate event staff
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays
Willingness and ability to work with staff members and lay leaders to plan all event aspects or other related assignments
EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED:
Meet with members, groups, and vendors involved in holding events at Temple to organize details and activities
Proactively responds to phone calls and inquiries from members and vendors
Provides input to Executive Director and relevant committies
Helps prepare and work with Communications staff to produce marketing materials
Devises programs and activities to ensure members feel included in Temple Life
Meets with caterers for event preparation
Promotes, checks for, and coordinates Shabbat Sponsorships
Performs duties as assigned by Executive Director
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is typically performed in an office setting
Does require physical effort relative to setting up, putting away inventory, and occasional cleaning
Attendance at evening and weekend events and meetings is required Congregation Temple Israel
