This position is a full time, year-long position.

- Have a deep knowledge and understanding of the current curriculum at St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA), while also staying informed about emerging curriculum trends.
- Skillfully evaluate whether those trends are relevant and applicable to the specific needs and mission of SJA.
- Be adept at analyzing data to drive curriculum decisions and improve student outcomes.
- Cultivate trust and strong relationships with both the teachers and the principal, fostering a collaborative and supportive educational environment.
- Consistently demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented setting.
- Have experience as a teacher, demonstrating firsthand understanding of classroom dynamics, instructional strategies, and the day-to-day challenges faced by educators.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills in both written and spoken form, conveying ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively to a variety of audiences.
- Have earned a Master's degree or higher in curriculum and instruction or similar degree, ensuring a strong academic foundation in the field.
- Possess experience leading a team of adults, demonstrating leadership and management capabilities.
- Be knowledgeable about and experienced with dual credit courses and Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum, guiding and supporting advanced learning opportunities for students.
- Have experience giving constructive feedback.
Key responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Alignment
- Facilitates updating curriculum: The Curriculum Director works with teachers and administrators to design, review, and update the curriculum to ensure it is relevant, rigorous, and aligned with local, state, and national educational standards.
- Ensures alignment: They ensure that the curriculum aligns vertically (across grade levels) and horizontally (across subjects), as well as to the national standards and standardized tests, related to the particular discipline. Additionally, they identify the threads across disciplines which create a cohesive learning experience for the students.
- Instructional Support
- Professional development: They organize training and professional development for teachers to support effective instruction and the integration of new teaching methods or technologies.
- Instructional strategies: The director helps teachers incorporate best practices, research-based teaching strategies, and innovative methods that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Assessment and Data Analysis
- Assessment development: With department chairs, the Curriculum Director oversees the development and use of end of semester assessments to measure student learning and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum.
- Data-driven decision-making: They analyze student performance data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement, using this information to guide curriculum adjustments.
- Collaboration
- Works with teachers and administrators: The Curriculum Director collaborates with educators and school leadership to make informed decisions about curriculum changes, resource allocation, and instructional support.
- Community and parent involvement: They may engage with parents and community stakeholders to communicate curriculum goals, changes, and how they support student success at events such as Open House.
- Resource Management
- Budgeting and resource allocation: They help manage the budget for curriculum-related resources and professional development.
