The Role

City Manager, Chicago

Pedalheads is looking for a full-time City Manager for our Chicago region. With a target of 21 locations in Chicagoland for 2025, this role calls for an ambitious, entrepreneurial and tenacious leader. As a local to Chicago, you are someone who has a personal familiarity of the city’s neighborhoods, school system and children’s programming. Experienced in multi-location operations, you excel at energizing teams, engaging parents and children alike and growing a fiscally and socially responsible business.

Your Responsibilities

In addition to sharing your ideas on how we can grow, learn and build in this role, you’ll also be:

  • Research and develop recommendations for expansion to new neighborhoods within the region
  • Prospect, tour and negotiate sites by working with school districts, parks departments, church organizations, etc.
  • Seek partnership opportunities with local businesses, community centers and others to promote registrations and hiring initiatives
  • Be a market expert and provide information that can help the Pedalheads marketing team better understand and communicate with the local communities
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing Department to promote Pedalheads programs within local communities, at events, school presentations, etc.
  • Work with Senior Management team to stay updated on product knowledge and stay informed of any changes in company policies
  • Manage all day-to-day operations of the business for the Chicago region
  • Recruit, interview and hire the best Camp Managers and supervisors to run our camps
  • Assist and/or lead Instructor and Camp Leader training sessions
  • Lead and manage Camp teams by being involved on site, providing mentorship, motivation and support
  • Purchase, prepare and maintain camp equipment in a timely manner and on an ongoing basis
  • Respond to customer feedback/concerns in a timely and professional manner, always aiming to provide an appropriate solution and ensure resolution
  • Manage annual budgets responsibly and monitoring staff efficiency to meet strategic goals

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

We believe that a great team is built on a collection of diverse skills, knowledge and experiences and we consider all of this when we review your application:
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Education, Sports Management or related field or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a team in an operations environment
  • Experience working in recreation and/or children’s programming
  • Proven experience with customer service and customer relations
  • Experience in prospecting and or/sales
  • Able and willing to periodically travel throughout North America (Canada & USA)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to areas of responsibility
  • Must be competent with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience working with a CRM is an asset
