University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Humanities and Social Sciences Sociology & Anthropology The Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking qualified candidates for part-time adjunct faculty teaching positions.
Job Description
- Develop and manage syllabus materials using the University of Missouri-Kansas City Syllabus Generator (SG) and/or Required Syllabus Elements Templates.
- The adjunct instructor is responsible for selecting and compiling tests, assignments, and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of student performance relative to standardized learning objects and student outcomes.
- Submit a copy of all syllabi to the department to ensure that course(s) comply with the University of Missouri-Kansas City standards.
- Coordinate courseware and curriculum with academic department chair. The adjunct instructor is responsible for reviewing any textbook and other courseware changes with the academic department chair.
- Maintain, update, manage, and ensure accuracy of content on Canvas for all assigned courses.
- Utilize Canvas to effectively engage and communicate with students to supplement and support course and program learning outcomes.
- Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback.
- Check college email regularly and maintain effective communication/contact with students, administrators, faculty colleagues, etc.
- Input final grades into Canvas and Pathway and submit a copy of all gradebooks to the department on or before grade deadlines established by the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Part-time, non-benefit eligible unranked Academic position. Appointment period is for the semester with consideration for reappointment. Hours will vary depending on the opportunity, approximately 5 to 20 hours a week.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Ability to teach undergraduate urban ecology
- PhD in related field
- Teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications: - Expertise in environmental studies
- Teaching experience in urban ecology
- Research experience in ecology
Anticipated Hiring Range
Commensurate on education, experience, and internal equity.
